Video Card
Actually no - I own an entertainment company and edit DV video. I purchased a video card that didn't come with games and was designed for decent DV editing. The nVidia chip is much better than the ATI chips for gaming. I suspected something was wrong when Windows XP wouldn't start. It got stuck in an "Infinite

Can't get PCI video card to work w/ Intel onboard video
CRT's need analog input from the video card. The video card changes digital data into analog data so the CRT can understand it. An analog video card would change digital data to analog data and the LCD would take that analog data and change it back to digital, which does not make sense at all.

Video Card Question
I'm not after anything flash like a full-on video editing suite with on-board effects processing etc, just something that'll do the basics. That's what software does, anyway. I am planning on upgrading my four year old PC to something like a 3ghz P4 and a decent enough 3D video card, however I believe I can do

I'm personally looking at the Gainward Ultra 5600 or Ultra 5700 video card for my next graphics card. You *do* need a spare hard drive power plug inside your case (the same kind you plug into your hard drive for power) to help power the card. What controls colors / Resolution ? Video card or monitor
Almost all `PC' graphics stuff assumes the card was initialized by the video BIOS code in the BIOS ROM on the video card. For network cards, this is not the case. As I understand it now (having just got accelerated X to work on a Blue & White G3) its actually X not the kernel that needs to have a driver to support

PCI Video Cards
-The retail version is a faster card than the OEM version (the oem version is clocked at a slower memory and slower graphic processor speed.) -There are 2 versions of this card, one with video capture (VIVO) and one without video capture. video card help please
Same with a sound card. Before you an un-install the video drivers, you'll need to change your current driver to VGA, then let Windows re-start. This way, none of the files your current video card uses will be "in use" when you try to un-install them. It's very important to remove ALL TRACES of the old video card.

Graphics Card - can o' worms
The monitor connected to the ADD2 card has to have a DVI-D connector. A dual head PCIe x16 video card would also work, with the onboard graphics disabled. What video card should I buy
Example you purchase a system with 256Mb of RAM and the integrated video uses 16Mb of system ram leaving 240Mb for use by the OS and applications. That's fine when the trade off is an overall lower system price. If you later add a video card with it's own memory, the 16Mb may not be made available to the system

Graphics Cards and TR, Need Advice

Difference between graphics card and capture card??
You simply load a dos based VESA driver for the video card. Cirrus have some drivers on their FTP site which is ftp.cirrus.com. I personally use a program called Scitech Display Doctor which is a program that can be used for many different video cards. It is small and apparently faster than the available Cirrus
